31 round-bottom and straight-wall crucibles from 9 lb studio sizes to 385 lb production tanks — engineered for soda-lime, lead-crystal, opal, and borosilicate cullet. Lot-controlled, US-made, and shipped on a PO.

MFA glass programs and undergraduate hot shops rely on consistent lot-to-lot performance so a crucible lasts the full semester. We ship on institutional POs and stock the studio sizes (9 – 60 lb) you reorder most.
Production blowers, gaffers, and rental studios need crucibles that fine fast and hold a clean melt. Round-bottom geometries from 18 – 130 lb cover the working volume of most North American studio furnaces.
Kiln casters, sculpture studios, and small production houses pull from our 100 – 385 lb straight-wall range for higher-volume work, with custom geometries built to drawing on a 4 – 8 week cycle.
The sizes art programs and small hot shops reorder most. Every SKU below is available to order on a PO.

We've supplied refractory ceramics to the glass and casting industries for more than seven decades. Here's what that means for your studio.
Every batch fired to a documented schedule from controlled raw materials. The crucible you bought last spring is the crucible you'll get this fall.
Manufactured in Gilberts, IL. Domestic stock means short lead times and no trans-Pacific shipping risk.
Round-bottom and straight-wall bodies designed to survive the charge / fine / blow cycle without spalling or cracking.
Stuck on size, geometry, or a furnace retrofit? Talk to an engineer at no charge before you buy.
Most university hot shops and small studios run a 30–80 lb crucible for daily blowing sessions. Larger production studios step up to 100–190 lb. Match the capacity to roughly 90% of your furnace's working volume so the glass has room to convect without flooding the lip.
Our glass crucibles are formulated for soda-lime, lead-crystal, opal, colored, and borosilicate cullet. The body resists chemical attack from common glass batches and holds up to standard charge-and-melt cycles in gas and electric furnaces.
Round-bottom crucibles convect more evenly, fine the melt faster, and are the classic choice for studio glassblowing. Straight-wall (cylindrical) crucibles maximize working capacity for the same OD and are common in higher-volume production and casting work.
Service life depends on temperature, cullet chemistry, charge cadence, and thermal cycling. Properly cured and operated, a SELEE crucible typically runs a full academic semester or longer in a university program. See instruction manuals IM2 and IM3 in our Downloads for installation and operation guidance.
Yes. We ship across the United States and accept purchase orders from universities, colleges, and established studios. First-time buyers complete a short credit application or a credit-card authorization. Request a quote on any SKU and our sales team will reply within one business day.
Most SKUs typically ship from our North Carolina facility within 3–5 business days of PO acceptance. Larger production sizes and custom geometries quote on a 4–8 week build cycle depending on workload.
Yes. SELEE® Advanced Ceramics® has manufactured refractory ceramics in Gilberts, Illinois for more than 75 years. Every glass crucible on this page is made domestically with lot-controlled raw materials and fired to a documented schedule.
Yes. We routinely tool custom geometries for studios, MFA programs, and equipment manufacturers. Send a sketch or your furnace ID through the quote form and an application engineer will reply with options and pricing.
